Lossie unveil four but are preparing for more! 19-Jun-2006
Lossiemouth - Home

Lossiemouth FC boss Tommy Madden has added four players to his squad going into the new season and that number looks like increasing in the coming weeks as he looks to lead the Coasters to an improvement in their League performances in 2006/2007.

In a two part story we will look at the players coming in, with appraisals from Madden in italics, and follow that up later in the day with more about the Coaster's potential targets.

We start off with the arrival of Darren McConnachie a talented goalkeeper signed from New Elgin. To those in the North Junior fraternity, and Moray area, the folliclely blessed keeper is best known as Mini and he has been a key figure in the success of the Pinefield based outfit.

Mini's has racked up more than ten clean sheets in each of his last two seasons letting in an average of less than a goal every other game in last season's title winning season.

Stevie Dunn said he wants a new challenge so we have got a keeper on board of whom I have very high hopes. He will have a number of familiar faces around him so I expect a lot of organisation from him

Darren Watson. The right back has featured a few times for Lossie as a trialist since Madden took over, which included facing the likes of Michael Stephen in the shock festive win over Fraserburgh and, unfortunately, being sent off in the seven goal thriller against Rothes as the Coasters welcomed the New Year with a win.

Daz is a part of my plans to reshape the whole back line and he is one who should do very well. He is also the flatmate of Craigy Mo and I would say you cannot get closer than that with regards to friendship.

Kevin Stuart Centre half signed from New Elgin who has also proven himself to Madden in a Lossie jersey this year, with a solid performance in one of the Coaster's rare clean sheets. Stuart reads the game well and is an extremely diligent defender.

Kevin in my opinion is one of the top centre backs around, he played for us against Brora Rangers at the end of last season and strolled it. He does everything simple, that is a quality in a defender I look for.

It is a total revamp of the back line I am looking for, we scored a decent amount of goals, not far behind Buckie, but not good enough at the other end

Grant Shewan 18 year old midfielder who made a handful of appearances coming off the bench for Elgin City at the tail end of last season following the departure of Davie Robertson.

He was with Elgin City last year so you have to say that experience will stand him in good stead. There will be tough competition in the midfield but I expect him to hold his own

Look out for more from Madden later in the day.
